Assignment:
Our client – an operator of the VoIP network,
has requested development of a complex Network Operation Center,
that would allow him to support and debug his VoIP network. Based on
the prepared specification, we were asked to compile the required
solution satisfying the client's requirements.
Solution:
Network Operations Center (NOC) is a highly
sophisticated CNS of the Softswitch solution. The monitoring center
is equipped with powerful hardware and a large set of software
tools. NOC guarantees the entrepreneur of the service
(telecommunication operator) from the point of operational demands
the above average, stable and proactive management of the whole
infrastructure of the VoIP network, which is the inevitable part of
smooth running securing as well as all the other activities of this
VoIP telecommunication service. NOC allows monitoring of the whole
infrastructure in the real time and ensures the operator that all
the servers, applications, communication lines, switches/routers as
well as others active components of the Softswitch solution work
correctly. The NOC operator is capable to prepare detailed analysis
of the current status of the system, functionality and performance
of each of the selected components. The NOC is active 24 hours a day
7 days a week and its operation crew consists of trained and skilled
supervisor and technicians which keeps the system in the optimal
state. For the failure detection and alarm monitoring, the NOC uses
sophisticated distribution system which consists of the whole range
of various applications. Each of the application has been developed
with the focus at its specific purpose of monitoring concrete
parameters of a the Softswitch solution.
NOC is fully equipped with a sophisticated
network management, various agents collecting data (Data Collection
Agent), monitoring and analysis creation tools. Each component of
the Softswitch solution includes Data Collection Agent, which
gathers various system data of the given element and passes them to
the NOC via the proprietary protocol. Data Collection Agent has
preconfigured marginal values of the monitored parameters. If during
the system operation the monitored parameters reaches the critical
level, the Agent sends this information via the Alert Center to the
NOC over the secured encrypted channel, encrypted e-mail or via the
SMS gateway to a mobile phone. This method ensures, that the
important warnings does not get lost in the quantity of others
monitored data.
The main
advantages of the NOC:
NOC management is designed and adjusted to the
used technology thus the management of an extensive system can be
realized with minimal costs.
Progressive Fault Management influence the profits by minimizing the
idle time.
Easily manageable configuration management makes the remote
administration more effective.
Wide range of observed data and their productive management allows the
NOC operator to discover the overloaded elements or potential
difficulties even before they arise.
Automatic software upgrade that can be planned in advance minimizes
the time needed for service work and does not affect the service
availability.
Possible integration of the Alerting System with the management
system of the operator secures smooth startup of the Softswitch
supervision.
Secure structure of the NOC management allows
the access to the system elements
only to the authorized personnel.
NOC management is designed as multiplatform solution which provide
operators with the flexibility in used hardware and operating
system.
